A 1st Sgt with the 52nd Armored Infantry Battalion, he was captured at the Battle of the Bulge on Dec 16, 1944. They were marched over 200 miles as POWs to a POW camp under brutal, harsh conditions and treatment. He was liberated by Allied Forces April 13, 1945.
