Rank: Aviation Radioman Second Class. He was inducted into the United States Navy May 18, 1942 at Santa Monica, California. Following his Basic Military Training at the U.S. Naval Training Station San Diego, California and along with any additional training; he was transferred to the USS Copahee Escort Carrier (ACV-12) for duty, assigned to Bombing Squadron-137. The Carrier and her shipmates were based at Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii. After additional, training at Pearl Harbor, the USS Copahee sailed to San Diego, California for cargo; arriving 25 February 1943. The Carrier departed San Diego March 10, 1943; loaded with Aircraft, aviation stores, and personnel to the forward bases Location: South Pacific Theater of Operations. Thursday, September 9, 1943 he was reported as Missing-in-Action or Buried at Sea; near the Island of Funafuti, between the Solomon and Samoa Islands. In his Memory and Honor, a cenotaph memorial has been placed at the Grand View Cemetery, located at Montrose, Colorado. This American Patriot was awarded the Purple Heart posthumously for his Heroism, and ultimate sacrifice. He served his Country with Pride and Honor.
