Lieutenant General. Served in the European Theater of Operations from 1942 till 1946. He was Port Commander of the North Ireland Ports until joining General Dwight Eisenhower's staff where he served from Normandy until VJ Day. He remained with our forces in Europe until 1946. He received the Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal, Order of the British Empire, Belgian Croix de Guerre with Palm, French Croix de Guerre with Palm.
