Activity During WWII

His first assignment was Ship's Cook, Second Class aboard the USS Poole (DE-151). He later joined the crew of the USS General H.W. Butner (AP-115) as Ship's Cook-Baker, where he was promoted to Boatswain's Mate Third Class. Entertained the sailors by allowing them to jump on his stomach without sustaining injury, in the style of Frank "Cannonball" Anson Richards. He was discharged with the rank Petty Officer Second Class.
