He served in the US Army Air Corps as a tail gunner working his way up to the Rank of Staff Sgt. and Flight Engineer. He was part of the 373rd Bomb Squadron, the 308th Bomb Group, as part of the Flight Crew of a B24 G named Nip Nipper.
