He was part of the 43rd Division of the Army during WWII. He was a Technician Grade V – setting up communications wires. Awarded the Purple Hear and a second Purple Heart with an Oak Leaf Cluster for wounds received in action at Sison, Luzon Philippine Islands on the 25th of January 1945. His medals include The Philippine Liberation Ribbon, American Defense Service Medal, The Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon and the Good Conduct Medal.
