He enlisted on September 16, 1940 and served in the 121 Infantry, 8th Division US Army. He was killed in action during the Battle of Grenade on February 25, 1945. The US Ninth Army was crossing the Roer River into Germany when he was killed. He is buried in the Henri-Chapelle American Cemetery in Liege, Belgium.
