Radioman with the 323rd Bomb Group 454th Squadron and completed 47 combat missions. On April 18, 1944 while bombing the Dunkirk Railroad and gun batteries the B-26 he was flying, PaPa DeDe serial number 41-35006 coded RJ-T collided with another B-26 which had been hit by a flak burst in the nose. PaPa DeDe went into an immediate spin and crashed. He was the sole survivor of his crew but became a POW spending the rest of WWII in Stalag 17B located at Krems Austria.
