Activity During WWII

Served as a gunner (tail gunner usually) on B24's flown out of Wendling Air Base in England. He flew 33 missions over Germany and France. He received sundry oak leaf clusters and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and the Air Medal for his services. He flew in a mission on D-Day over Omaha Beach into France to bomb German forces in the area of St. Laurent-sur-Mer. He served in England from Jan. 29 (first mission) to July 16 (last mission in 1944. He then shipped back to the US on the Queen Mary.
