While serving in both WWII and Korea, he received the following medals: Bronze Star, Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, Europe-Africa-Middle East Campaign Medal w/5 Battle Stars (Normandy/Northern France/Rhineland/Ardennes/Central Europe campaigns), WWII Victory Medal, Army Occupation Medal w/Japan bar, National Defense Service Medal, Korea Service Medal, Korea Defense Service Medal, UN Korea Service Medal, Republic of Korea War Service Medal, and the Korean Presidential Unit citation ribbon. For his whole career, he served in the Field Artillery, mostly with the 2nd & 2nd at Ft. Sill, OK.
