Served on the SS Crow Wing T2SEA1 Tanker hauling Aviation Fuel for the US Maritime Commission. Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. He transferred to the US Army February 1947 and attended the US Army Intelligence school at Oberammergau. Fluent in the German language he served as US Military Court Interpreter and was present at the Dachau War Crimes trials. He served with the 323rd M.I. & 7854 M.I. in Bremen as interrogator/interpreter, his small intelligence unit was responsible for bringing war criminals to justice, obtaining information for Operation Paperclip and anyone who would assist the Allied cause. In July of 2022 he was honored with the WWII Merchant Mariners Congressional Gold Medal.
