Activity During WWII

Awarded the Legion of Merit for "exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services in the Southwest Pacific area and Japan." Served four years with U.S. Army Air Forces Intelligence. He was assigned to A-2, intelligence section, of headquarters, PACUSA, in Tokyo, after having served under the command of Admiral Halsey in the southwest Pacific area, and later under the command of the late General Harmon at Hawaii, and at Guarri on the staff of General Spaatz, then commanding general of the army air force. Upon the completion of the move of the headquarters Pacific Air Command from Manila to Tokyo, he became assistant chief of intelligence division.
