Activity During WWII

He served in the 65th Squadron, 43rd Bomber Group (Heavy) in 1944-45 in the South Pacific -- B24s -- as a Flight engineer / top turret gunner. His ship was downed by enemy fire three times; once he was the only survivor out of a ten-man crew. He downed three Japanese fighters from his top turret during missions in the Solomons and elsewhere. The enclosed photo shows him (left end of the back row) with one of his crews.
