Activity During WWII

He served as a radio operator in the Naval Squadron VP-22 at Pearl Harbor. He often flew on missions in PBY Catalina amphibious aircraft. During the Japanese attack on December 7, 1941, he was sent from his barracks at the airfield on Ford Island to help salvage airplanes and move them away from other burning airplanes.
