Activity During WWII

He started in the Merchant Marines hauling grain on the Atlantic Seaboard. When his ship was in Lake Superior, it was torpedoed and he could not speak above a whisper for a few days. Then he joined the Marine Aircorp because he did not want to get drafted. His MOS involved fixing aircraft on the island of Peleliu in the Pacific. He was discharged in January of 1946 in San Francisco.
