He also earned the following awards...Combat Action Ribbon, Navy Presidential Unit Citation, Navy Unit Commendation Citaation Ribbon, Navy Good Conduct Medal w/ 4 Bronze Stars, American Defense Service Medal w/ "Fleet", Clasp, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, Navy Occupation Medal w/ "Asia" Clasp, Philippine Liberation Medal, and the Philippine Presidential Unit Citation. He retired in 1946, after 23 years of service as a Chief Water Tender.
