Activity During WWII

He was first enlisted and served in the US Army Armored Corps, at Pine Canp with 4th Armored Division, rising to the rank of SFC. He left the Army, having fulfilled his time but was recalled to active duty following the December 7th attack at Pearl Harbor. He enlisted, returned to Pine Camp and was made Battalion Operations Sergeant Major. He then was selected for OCS, which he attended, graduated and Commissioned into the signal corps. He deployed to Ascension Island where he served during the war on “wide awake field” and returned to the US, where he became the athletic officer at FT Monmouth, was scouted by the Cardinals and Boston Braves for professional Major League Baseball, but turned them down. He branch transferred to the Engineer corps, stayed in the reserve where he remained to the rank of Captain.
