Entered service on April 10, 1942 and trained at Camp Chaffee, Arkansas. . He was deployed to South Africa in August 1943, having participated in the invasion of Italy, in November of 1943. He was killed in action in January 15, 1944 in Italy while serving with Headquarters Company, 69th Armored Field Artillery Battalion. His last letter to his parents was written on January 13, 1944.
