Served in the US Army Air Corps with the 8th Air Force as a pilot of B-24s and earned the Distinguished Flying Cross for his service in Europe. Following the War, he became a lawyer and served his country for 41 years in various elective offices to include auditor and city solicitor for the city of Massillon, Ohio; prosecutor for Stark County, Ohio; Judge of the Court of Common Appeals and Judge of the Ohio Court of Appeals. He is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Wilmot, Ohio in Section 3, Lot 27.
