Activity During WWII

He was assigned to Marine Scout Bombing Squadron 236. On January 14, 1944, while piloting his Douglas SBD Dauntless plane, it took off from Munda Airfield on New Georgia. The tail of the plane was shot off by anti-aircraft fire and crashed over Papua, New Guinea while approaching the target area. LT Ramsey's remains has been missing since the crash. In January of 2024, the crash site was discovered, and the US Department of Defense is investigating to recover the remains.
