Service Number 19039959 Enlisted in the Army Air Corps at March Air Field in Riverside, California, January 27, 1942. Ordered to Sheppard Air Field in Wichita, Texas for initial training. Assigned to the 341st Bombardment Squadron (Heavy), 97th Bombardment Group (Heavy), Polebrook Field, England. He was fatally injured in a motor vehicle accident and died September 30, 1942. He had been in the Army for eight months. He was buried in England on October 3, 1942 at the Brookwood Cemetery in Surrey, England. Brookwood is an American military cemetery for the U.S. World War I dead. He was sent home to the United States after the war at the request of his parents. He arrived in the United States on December 8, 1948 aboard the U.S. Army Transport Lt. James E. Robinson. His parents were notified after the arrival of the body at the regional Distribution Center for the American Graves Registration Service. He was laid to rest on January 29, 1949 at the Glen Haven Memorial Cemetery in Sylmar, California.
