Entered Active Service 6 Jun 1941 - Separated 27 September 1945 Pacific Theatre of Operations - Bronze Star – Aleutian Islands Campaign "He received all his training in camps in California and was sent overseas on 23 April 1943 to the Aleutian Islands where he took part in the battles of Attu. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal. This decoration is for heroic achievement in connection with the military operations against the enemy May 29, 1943, during the Attu operation. He was one of a group that was organized to stop a Japanese attack on the supply installations, and after a brisk fight at a range of not over 50 feet, the leading elements of the enemy were destroyed. The group then counter- attacked and destroyed the entire enemy force of about 25 men. He is now stationed on Oahu islands in the Hawaiians. He also fought in battles on the Marshalls and at Kiska."
