Activity During WWII

Enlisted 16 June 1942 - Separated 17 Nov 1945 "Corporal Denver Arbor Drinkwine, husband of Mrs. Gertrude M. Drinkwine of Indianapolis, is assigned as an auto equipment operator at the 1562nd Base Unit, a Netherlands East Indies base of the Air Transport Command's Southwest Pacific Wing. Mrs. Drinkwine and their one-year-old son, Denver Jr. live at Indianapolis. Prior to his entry into the armed forces in June, 1942, Cpl Drinkwine was employed at the Nestles Company. He received his basic army training at Jefferson Barracks, MO. His two brothers Perry and LeRoy are both Sergeants in the Infantry, serving on Okinawa and in India respectively. Cpl Drinkwine is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Coy P. Drinkwine of Boyceville. He has been overseas since November 1944. (Dunn County News 29 August 1945.)
