He was a Staff Sergeant Tail gunner on a B24 bomber his aircraft was shot down while on a n=bombing run over Berlin Germany November 6 1944 he was captured by the germany army and remained a POW until June 1945 He was awarded the air medal with oak leaf cluster as well as many other medals and ribbons He was Honorably discharged in November of 1945 completing over 3 years of active duty .He was in the 8th Air Force 445th Bomb Group 701 Bomb Squardron Tiberham England
