Activity During WWII

He joined the Army Air Corp as soon as he graduated from High School. He attended Aviation Cadet Training between October 1943 and March 1945 graduating as a 2nd Lt. March 1945. March 1945 to August 1945 Transition flight training B-24 Aircraft Commander and B-29 First Officer. From September 1945 to June 1946, he did brief and various positions during shut down of AF installations. From June 1946 to August 1948 his initial assignment was as 403rd Troop Carrier Group Supply & Personal Equipment Officer for Headquarters charged with maintaining and resupply of Headquarters requirements as needed. His subsequent assignment was to 21st Troop Carrier Squadron during which time he operated a one hundred and twenty man mess hall, supervising sixteen men and responsible for maintaining and resupply of staples for daily operation. In addition to aircrew assignment to C-54 he was responsible for operating Air Freight Terminal. He supervised eight men in daily duties of airborne movement of cargo on four scheduled and numerous unscheduled flights.
