Activity During WWII

Was in the US army infantry. While in the first wave in an invasion in the Marshall Islands he was critically wounded by a gun shot to to his head. He layed on the beach for over 20 hrs being given up for dead. He was discovered by a recovery platoon. He was evacuated and life saving measures were performed. He was sent to Hawaii for extensive surgery for his head wounds. He spent 2 yrs there for more surgery and physical therapy. He was then sent to A VA Hospital for further treatment and therapy. As a result of his wounds he was paralyzed on his left side for the remainder of his life. He was able to work as a salesman despite of his disability. Unfortunately he passed away in 1978 due to a blood clot that had formed on his left side related to his war injuries.
