Activity During WWII

This honoree entered the US Navy in October 1943 and sailed on the USS LST 593 and was a diesel operator. He drove a Higgins Boat to unload soldiers onto the beaches of the Phillipine Islands during the Philippine Liberation. He was wounded by a stray bullet while on deck and received a Purple Heart medal. Other awards received were The Victory Medal, The American Theatre Medal, the Asiatic Pacific (1 Star) medal, and the Philippine Liberation (1 Star) Medal. He was honorably discharged from his service 12 Aug 1946.
