He was inducted into the U.S. Army on 5 May 42. He attended the 90th Signal Division School at Camp Barkley, Texas. He landed on Utah Beach and saw action in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Theater Service Medal, EAME Theater Service Medal w/5 Bronze Stars & 1 Arrowhead. He was discharged from the Armed Forces of the United Stated on May 8, 1953.
