Activity During WWII

He served with the 72nd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) in the Pacific Theater from March 20, 1943 – October 19, 1945, as an airplane crew chief. Howard was in charge of a B-24, performing inspections on planes before and after flights, making repairs on engines, and in charge of four men. Battles/campaigns: Central Pacific Bismarch Archipelago, Northern Solomons GO33 WD 45, Southern Philippines GO 58 WD 45, Luzon GO 67 WD 45, China Defensive GO 75 WD 45, New Guinea GO 89 WD 45. Decorations and citations: Asiatic Pacific Service Medal; Good Conduct Medal; Philippine Liberation Ribbon GO 23; HQ USAFFE 45 Distinguished Unit Citation with 1 Bronze OLC GO 1073 HQ FEAF 45.
