He was killed on the USS Oklahoma on December 7, 1941 from the Japanese attack at Pearl Harbor. His remains were recovered and identified by the DPAA on June 10, 2021. He was buried at The Most Precious Blood Catholic Cemetery in New London, Wisconsin on September 11, 2021.
