George was a naval aviator who saw service on the USS Kalinan Bay. This command was part of Taffy 3 who was instrumental in damaging the Japanese Imperial fleet at Samar. George won the distinguished flying cross as a result of this engagement. George died in an air show July 4 1947 in Alabama. He is buried in Arlington.
