He was a member of the 83rd Infantry Division. He wounded by shrapnel in a battle in the Bocage near Marchesieux, France on 17 July 1944, against three 17th Panzer division. He disembarked the F/G section of Omaha Beach on/about D-Day +16. He survived his wounds to live 43 more years.
