Activity During WWII

Entered the U.S. Army on December 27, 1943 and traveled to Fort Blanding, Florida. He was soon sent to England aboard the Queen Mary and served with the Army’s 29th Infantry Division as a truck driver. He was in Europe for 22 months and participated in two major campaigns. He participated in the D-Day invasion of Europe at Normandy on June 6, 1944 landing on Omaha Beach. He was wounded in France and sent to England for hospitalization. Once recuperated he returned to France and was assigned as a mechanic in a motor pool and later as a personal driver for an Army General. He was honorably discharged as a Private First Class, on March 18, 1946.
