Activity During WWII

His tenure in service was from April 4, 1942, to November 9, 1945. He left the United States in February 1944, sailed directly to North Africa and, after a short time, left for Naples. He would be in Italy for the remainder of the war as part of the 88th Infantry Division ("Blue Devils"), 351st Infantry Regiment, Service Company, where he worked in Personnel. He was on the outskirts of Rome in the days surrounding the liberation of Rome on June 4, 1944. Other places in Italy included Albano, Pomarance, Volterra, Laiatico, Firenzola, Castel del Rio, Sassoleone, Monterenzio, Monte delle formiche, Loiano, and Pietramala. After the war ended in Europe, he was based in Trento. North Apennines, Po Valley, and Rome-Arno were listed as his battles and campaigns. He received the European-African-Middle Eastern Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, American Service Medal, and Combat Infantryman Badge for his service.
