Served in the US Army, 39th Inf Reg. Death 13 Oct 1944 • KIA in Hurtgen Forest, Germany. He was killed in action in the “Death Factory” of the Hurtgen Forest in Germany on October 13, 1944, while leading his platoon against the entrenched Germans. He died instantly. From a letter dated 14 Oct 1946 from Maj Gen Edward Witsell.
