Activity During WWII

He registered for the Selective Service on 30 June 1942 in Los Angeles, California. He enlisted as a Private into the United States Army and was shipped to Camp White, Oregon in July 1942. He was assigned to the 91st Infantry Division and completed basic training. He was assigned to 2nd Squad, 2nd Platoon of C Company, of the 1st Bn, 362 Inf Regt, 91st Infantry Division. He was shipped to the Norfolk Naval Shipyard in Virginia on 3 April 1944. He departed to Africa aboard the SL 138 convoy and arrived in North Africa to begin amphibious assault training. He fought in two of the Italian campaigns before he was injured. He was awarded the Combat Infantryman's badge and the Bronze Star Medal. In 1947 Isaias was discharged from the Army after fighting in Italy to defeat the Germans. He returned from Europe in 1946 and served his final year at Camp Kilmer, New Jersey before returning home.
