Activity During WWII

Entered active duty April 27,1943. He completed a 4-week Rifleman course and an 8-week Anti-Tank Gunner course and received a specialty of Heavy Machine Gunner. Served in the Pacific Theatre, assigned to 4th Division, 23rd Regiment where he fought in several battles, the most famous, the Battle of Iwo Jima. He was awarded the Marine Sharpshooters Medal, Purple Heart, Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal and WWII Victory Medal. He was separated from active duty on December 8, 1945 in Fort Worth Texas.
