A World War II veteran who at age 19 already had 3 campaign bars for the American area, European- African -Middle Eastern area and the Asiatic- Pacific area and was awarded a Bronze Metal. Peck was one of the two Navy Armed Guards who did duty on the SS James Madison, SS James Harrad, and the USS Kangaroo (IX-121) as a Seaman 1st Class in the North Atlantic the Pacific and the Arctic ocean. He was aboard the USS Alanson B. Houghton when it sunk in the English Channel during the Battle of the Bulge and only 1 of 9 survivors.
