Entered Active Service in the United States Army 5 April 1941 at Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Served in Foreign Service 13 May1944 to 8 August 1945 with the 80th Infantry Division, 318th Infantry Regiment, Company F. Wounded in the Battle of the Bulge 26 December 1944. Separated from Active Service 11 August 1945 at Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. 11 December 1944 Earned the Bronze Star Medal for Heroic Action. Awarded the Purple Heart Medal for his Wounding in Action 26 December 1944.
