He served in Europe in the 8th Air Force towards the middle of 1942 sometime. He was part of the 97th bomb group, 341st bomb squadron heavy. In November 1942, he became part of the 12th Air Force around November 15th 1942. On November 20, 1942 he was killed in action days later at Masion Blanche in Algiers from bombing raids. He flew on two found documented ships. B17E No. 9013 and B17F No. 41-24379.
