Activity During WWII

He was only 17 years old when he decided to join the Navy, and was recruited at the NRS on August 9, 1944 as an AS, V-6. From there he was transferred to NTC Great Lakes, Illinois to complete his training. For the majority of WW2 he served on the USS Columbia CL56, which included 7 months in international waters. He participated in the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign and the American Theater, which awarded him with the ability to wear the American Theater and Pacific Theater Ribbons. Additionally, his perseverance until the end of the war bestowed him with a Victory Medal, alongside a Honorable Service Lapel Button, Honorable Discharge Button, and Honorable Discharge Emblem.
