In 1942, in he went in and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during World War II as a Fireman First Class aboard the USS Croaker (SS-246) During his distinguished service, he was awarded the American Theater Medal, Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacific Medal, and the Philippine Liberation Medal. He received his honorable discharge in 1946.
