Born May 23, 1922 in the mountains of Abruzzo, Italy and in 1933 is mother sent him by ship to work with his father in America. In November 1942, he was drafted into the United States Army and rose to the rank of Sergeant of Battery B, 359th Field Artillery Battalion, of the 95th Infantry Division. The 95th Infantry Division earned the title the Iron Men of Metz after liberating Metz, France from German occupation. He also served as part of the famous Red Ball Express which was a vital American truck convoy system during World War II that operated supplying rapidly advancing Allied forces in Europe after the D-Day invasion. He earned the following Metals: Good Conduct, American Theater, WWII Victory, European-African-Middle Eastern, W/3 battle stars, a Purple Heart and was discharged in November 1945.
