He served as a member of the 610th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron (Camel Control), stationed at Misawa Air Base, Japan. There he was a radar repairman, performing third and fourth echelon maintenance and repair on designated mobile or fixed ground radar equipment. He also instructed personnel in and inspected lower echelon activities with respect to repair and maintenance matters. He was awarded the Army of Occupation Medal Japan and WW II Victory Medal.
