Missing in action serving as a Staff Sergeant with the 340th Bomb Squadron, 97th Bomb Group, aboard the “HERDID” 42-31044, as a tail gunner on a B 17 G taking off from Amendola Airfield Italy. Attacked by Luftwaffe fighters crashed into the Bay of Calvi, Corsica.
