Trained in the Infantry for combat and sent to the Pacific. Stationed in Hawaii and then sent into combat on the island of Funafuti in the South Pacific where he was wounded. Treated in various hospitals and discharged after war was over. He was awarded the Purple Heart and went on to become a great scientist living, working and now retired.
