Activity During WWII

Joined U.S. Army Air Force 1942. Served with the 511th Bomb Squadron, 351st Bomb Group; 17th mission June 1944. On August 8, 1944 brought badly mauled B-17 safely home from Berlin. Then 3 days later from Munich, was hit again. In flames, he and crew bailed out into North Sea, 6 miles from England, rescued by Royal Air Force Air Sea Search. Completed tour in 72 days; fastest in 8th Air Force.
