Served 18 months in New Guinea and Pacific War Zones. Sent to England and served as Top Gunner on an A-20 light bomber, member of the 9th Air Force. Shot down on May 12, 1944 over France on his 25th Mission. In 1952, his body was returned from a mass grave to Jefferson National Cemetery in St. Louis, Missouri.
