Activity During WWII

T/Sgt Marsicovete served with the 15th Air Force, 98th Bomber Group, 345th Bomber Squadron. Was a Flight Engineer on the B-24J Bomber (Liberator). Enlisted in the Army on 23 November 1942 and was called to active duty 22 June 1943. After training I left the United States on 20 August 1944 and arrived at the Fortunato Cesare Aerodrome (a.k.a. Lecce) on 16 September 1944. I flew 50 missions from this base as a Flight Engineer in the battles and campaigns of North Appennines, PO Valley, Rhineland, Central Europe, and the Air combats of the Balkans. I departed Italy on 5 May 1945 and arrived back to the United States on 15 May 1945. Attended further training in Chicago and was honorable discharged on 25 October 1945. Medals include The European-African-Middle Eastern Europe Ribbon with five bronze stars, Good conduct Medal, and the Air Medal with one oak leaf cluster. Served from 22 June 1943 to 25 October 1945.
