Activity During WWII

Entered Active Duty on 4 August 1944 at Fort Sheridan, Illinois. After completing basic and advanced individual training, he departed for the European Theater of Operations where he was assigned to A Company, 329th Infantry Regiment, 83rd Infantry Division where he served as an automatic rifleman. His awards include the Combat Infantryman Badge, Marksman Badge WITH Rifle BAR, 2 Overseas Service Bars, European-African-Middle Eastern THEATER Ribbon wITH 3 Bronze Battle Stars, Good Conduct Medal and WWII Victory Medal. Battles included the Battle of the Bulge and Rhineland campaign. He was promoted to PRIVATE FIRST CLASS while serving in the European Theater of Operations and he departed THE European Theater on 24 DECEMBER 1945, arriving in CONTINENTAL U.S. ON 1 JanUARY 1946. He was discharged from active duty at Camp Grant, Indiana on 6 JANUARY 1946 and returned home to Chicago, ILLINOIS.
